Sleeping dictionary is a phrase coined by British colonists to describe the native concubines who taught them the local language. In the steamy jungles of 1930's Sarawak, a beautiful tribeswoman becomes both concubine and language tutor to a young English colonial stationed there. Their passions grow into a forbidden love affair.
