Owen Epstein (Andrew Stevens) accepts a research appointment in California but is unaware of its implications. He soon learns that the clinic recycles blood with overdoses of oxygen, providing the recipient with twenty years worth of extra energy. One drawbackà the recipients consistently need new blood. The research is very secretive and when Paula (Heather Thomas), Owen's new girlfriend, becomes aware of the clinic's work, she too becomes a victim. Frightened but in love, Owen willingly becomes one of the clinic's patients in order to save Paula, and now himself.
