Bonnie Franklin stars a s Ms. Ann Romano, a newly divorced and very liberated woman trying her best to raise two teenaged daughters, Julie (Mackenzie Phillips) and Barbara (Valeria Bertinelli) as they start their new life together in Indianapolis. Building superintendent Dwayne Schneider (Pat Harrington Jr.) aCasanova with a pass key, supplies comic relief, while baby-faced attorney David Kane (Richard Masur) tempts Ann to reconsider her single state.
