Beaten down by haunting dreams and a failing
career, Detective Mickey Haden (Kiefer
Sutherland), is assigned to reopen a case that was
his downfall ten years ago. An arrogant and
enigmatic serial killer has resurfaced with
trademark bravado, challenging Hayden to hunt him
again. The investigation is overshadowed by
Hayden's reoccurring visions of a unknown woman.
With the help of a psychic investigator, Vera Swan
(Polly Walker), Hayden's ethereal sight grows more
acute and he realizes that the mystery woman is
Alice Liddel, the killer's first victim, and
possibly the key to solving the case. As
clairvoyance and reality mingle ever closer
together, it becomes clear that the killer has
left a broken psychic trailer that Hayden must
piece together before there is another victim.
