Saturday Night Live has had it's ups and downs over the years, but it's still one of the greatest sketch comedy shows of all time.

From it's humble beginnings in 1975, when it debuted with it's guest host George Carlin, musical guests Billy Preston and Janis Ian, as well as it's original cast of "Not Ready for Prime-Time Players". The original Saturday Night Live cast included such comedy greats as Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, Michael O'Donoghue, Gilda Radner and Chevy Chase. Over the years a wealth of great talent have been Saturday Night Live cast members including: Bill Murray, Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, , Phil Hartman, Mike Meyers, Chris Farley, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, Gilbert Gottfried, Adam Sandler, Tracy Morgan, David Spade, Jon Lovitz, Paul Shaffer, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, Kristen Wiig, Seth Myers, Norm Macdonald and a tonne of others, too many to include. Did we forget to mention, that actors like Billy Crystal, Martin Short and Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr. all were cast members of SNL for a while?

Without SNL, there's no Animal House, no Ghostbusters, no Stripes, no Blues Brothers, no 48 Hours or Beverly Hills Cop, no Conan O'Brien Show, no Jimmy Kimmel show, no 30 Rock, no Parks & Recreation, no Dennis Miller Show - and Seinfeld would be missing it's Elaine. Pretty much every great comedy movie and TV show of last 40 years - was a result of the cast and talent that was a part of Saturday Night Live. Without Saturday Night Live, life would have had a lot less laughs.
